Businesses, residents and stakeholders are being invited to help shape Bassetlaw’s future as a six-week consultation is underway on the district’s new Local Plan.
Bassetlaw District Council has launched the consultation to gather views on what the new Local Plan should include and how people and organisations would like to be involved as it develops.
The current Local Plan was adopted in 2024 and must be reviewed by 2028-29. Its replacement will play an important role in managing and influencing future economic growth, jobs, services and investment, including opportunities linked to the Trent Valley Supercluster.
The consultation seeks feedback on a scoping report, which provides an overview of the district and identifies key opportunities and challenges that could influence future planning decisions. It also includes an engagement strategy setting out how communities and stakeholders can remain involved throughout the process.
The six-week consultation opened on 3 September 2026. Responses can be submitted online, while paper copies are available from Council offices in Worksop, Retford and Harworth and Bircotes.
A series of 11 drop-in events is also taking place across Bassetlaw, giving people the opportunity to ask questions and discuss what they would like to see included in the new Local Plan.
The following are left during October:
- 1st October – Beckingham Recreation Room
- 5th October – Misterton Methodist Church
- 6th October – The Beeches Community Centre, Tuxford
- 7th October – Carlton in Lindrick Civic Centre

All of the consultation events will begin at 4:30pm and end at 6:30pm.
