Three businesses in Worksop and Retford are welcoming the new year in new premises on the high street after securing funding from Bassetlaw District Council.
Treat Yourself and C. H. Lettings in Retford and Bistro U Budynia in Worksop received a share of £20k to spend on improvements including new flooring, decorating, signage and equipment.
The funding has come from the council’s High Street Shop Fit Out Grants, which support new businesses with structural works or equipment needed to trade from currently vacant premises within town centres.
Piotr and Anna, Owners of Bistro U Budynia said: “The Shop Fit Out Grant we received has made a positive impact in helping us open our new café on Bridge Street.
“The money helped us with decorating and equipment for our new premises, and we look forward to welcoming new customers in the year ahead.”
The Shop Fit Out Grants have been supported by the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) with funding provided by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
Applications are still open for businesses to apply for High Street Shop Fit Out Grants with a deadline of 31st January 2026. To find out more visit the business advice page.
Cllr Charles Adams, Cabinet Member for Business and Skills said: “We are pleased these businesses have been benefitting from our Shop Fit Out Grants and we wish them every success with their new venture.
“Providing grants such as these is just one way to attract new businesses to our high streets, encourage new investment, create opportunities, as well as reducing the number of vacant properties on our high streets.”
